FC Sports Melbourne Heart John Aloisi and strip Heart confirms Aloisi deal http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/news/982742/Heart-confirms-Aloisi-deal Melbourne Heart has confirmed the signing of ex-Socceroos striker John Aloisi on a one-year deal, with the striker set to take up a development role at the club after his playing stint. Heart also unveil its inaugural playing strip, featuring red and white stripes. The World Game broke the news of Aloisi's move in February, with a source close to Heart revealing the 34-year-old had agreed to a deal with the A-League's newest club. While Heart was quick to hose down the story, issuing a prompt denial that a deal had been done, it is understood Aloisi had secured the move south from Sydney before the start of the A-League finals campaign. Heart coach Jon van't Schip expressed his delight at the chance to link up with the former Sydney FC marquee. "Life can be very strange. I worked with John while he was a young boy trying out at Genoa and we established a very good relationship, so to be working with him again hows how interesting the world of football is," Van't Schip said. "As a player, John has achieved much and has great qualities. He has great touch, a fantastic shot, brilliant vision and an ability to draw his teammates into the game, a combination of skills that is very difficult to find. "I haven't been in Australia for long, but I know of John's important contribution to football here and know just how important this signing is for the club." Aloisi will take on a development role with the club's National Youth League team after his playing stint. "There are not many footballers who have played in all three big European leagues (England, Italy and Spain)," Van't Schip said. "It's amazing to think that John completed his first season in Italy while I finished the final one of my career. "Inc my discussions with John, I have learned that he has a great understanding of football at a tactical level and I believe that he now has an opportunity to become a successful coach." Aloisi's career has spanned five countries and 10 clubs, his most fruitful spell a five-year stint at Osasuna in the Spanish Primera Division. He has been capped 55 times for Australia, with 27 goals. In 37 matches for Sydney FC, Aloisi has scored 11 goals - nine of them during the successful 2009/10 campain, in which it claimed the premiership-championship double. Aloisi joins his former Sydney FC teammate and goalkeeper Clint Bolton at the fledgling A-League franchise. A third Sky Blue - Simon Colosimo - is also believed to be close to a deal with the club.
