Cuenca Vs Lanus | Luqueño Vs Sao Paulo | Copa LIBERTADORESVIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Lanus Hold Cuenca In Ecuador Argentine champions Lanus picked up a precious point in Ecuador, after drawing 1-1 with Deportivo Cuenca on Thursday night. Cuenca, who held Lanus to a goalless draw in Buenos Aires, started strongly, piling heavy pressure on the Argentines. But from the run of play Lanus would take the lead in the 8th minute with a thunderous long distance drive from Sebastian Salomon. In the 32nd minute Lanus should have doubled their lead, but Agustin Pelletieri's good effort was well saved by Javier Klimowicz. After the break the Ecuadoreans picked up their game and looked very dangerous when moving forward, and were spurn on by the vocal 17,000 home crowd. Lanus goalkeeper Carlos Bossio kept his team in the game with a number of fine interventions, but the luck of the Argentines would soon run out. In the 70th minute John Garcia beat Bossio with a powerful freekick that took a deflection off the Lanus wall. The Ecuadoreans push forward in an aim to score the winner, but Lanus were able to hold onto the precious away draw. Soccer-Teenager gives modest Luqueno draw with Sao Paulo. Seventeen-year-old Adriano Duarte scored in injury time to give modest Paraguayan side Sportivo Luqueno an unlikely 1-1 draw at home to Brazilian champions Sao Paulo in the Libertadores Cup on Thursday. In Santiago, meanwhile, Juan Roman Riquelme limped off as titleholders Boca Juniors were beaten 2-0 at Chilean champions Colo Colo. Luqueno, taking part in only their third Libertadores, were playing at their own Feliciano Caceres stadium for the first time in the competition against the powerful Brazilians, whose line-up included on-loan striker Adriano. A 20,000 crowd packed a stadium which often sees attendances of less than 1,000 for domestic games, providing a festive atmosphere as they let off fireworks from the terraces. The more experienced Brazilians appeared to have the points in the bag after Aloisio rose above his marker to score in the 61st minute. But Luqueno snatched an equaliser out of the blue in the second minute of injury-time when Duarte scored with a swerving, first-time shot which found its way into the corner of the net. Home fans celebrated as if their team had won the competition. The draw was enough to take Sao Paulo top of Group Seven with five points from three games, one ahead of Luqueno and Colombian champions Atletico Nacional.
