... and could be banned for up to three games.

In the 64th minute of Milan's game against Napoli at San Siro, Ibrahimovic slapped Salvatore Aronica's face. The Swede will miss a difficult game at Udinese next weekend and, if he is suspended for up to three matches, will also miss the game against Juventus on 25 February.

"It wasn't violent, so I don't think Ibrahimovic will get more than two matches," the Milan vice-president, Adriano Galliani, said.

Fabio Borini struck twice to help Roma to a 4-0 home thrashing of Internazionale and their former coach Claudio Ranieri. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but heavy snow forced a one-day postponement. Roma were commanding in the victory that moved them to within two points of fifth-placed Inter.

Juan gave the hosts a 13th-minute lead, and the Italy Under-21 striker Borini scored his brace either side of the break. Ranieri's return to Roma, where he resigned last term, was made all the more embarrassing when Bojan Krkic made it 4-0 late on.

Juve were surprisingly held to a home 0-0 draw with lowly Siena. The duo, separated by a point at the top, will at least have been pleased that third-placed Udinese went down 3-2 at Fiorentina and Lazio, in fourth, lost 3-2 at Genoa in a cracking game in which Bosko Jankovic scored twice for the hosts.

Parma won 2-1 at Chievo, Palermo beat Atalanta 2-1, Lecce and Bologna drew 0-0 and bottom side Novara played out another goalless draw, at home to Cagliari.

All the matches were played in the afternoon to avoid dipping temperatures in the evening. Cesena against Catania on Saturday was postponed.
