? Midfielder expected to join Besiktas ? 33-year-old played 542 matches for Spanish side Guti today brought the curtain down on a 15-year professional career with Real Madrid. The 33-year-old made his debut for the side in December 1995, having joined the club as a nine-year-old. He could now join the Turkish team Besiktas, who are coached by the former Real Madrid manager Bernd Schuster. "Thank you to everyone. I go knowing that Real Madrid will always be my home," said Guti. "I leave knowing that Real Madrid wants me and that is very important." While Istanbul is Guti's expected destination, he says he has not yet finalised his future plans. "I have an offer from Besiktas, but I haven't decided yet," he said. "What is for sure it that wherever I go, I will give everything." Guti was most instrumental in the side which won the Primera Division title in 2001, scoring 14 goals for club that season. In total, he played 542 matches for Real Madrid in a variety of positions, scored 77 goals and won 15 trophies including five league titles and three Champions League successes. He says he hopes to return to the club in some capacity when his playing days are over. "I don't know where I will end up playing, but I would like to have the possibility of carrying on at Real Madrid when my career as a footballer has ended," he said.
