The shock departure of Chris Hughton on Monday afternoon prompted Martin O’Neill to be installed as favourite in Sky Bet’s next Newcastle manager betting odds, but rumours of an imminent arrival of former Southampton boss Alan Pardew resulted in him wrestling favouritism from O’Neill.
Now it is the turn of Jol to be strongly linked after leaving the Amsterdam Arena by mutual consent. Jol, who managed Tottenham Hotspur for three years, has been cut from 25/1 to 2/5 within a day in Sky Bet’s next manager market. Pardew, who touched 1/3, is now 3/2.
